There is a huge difference between taking the steps necessary to prevent kickback from taking place and understanding why it takes place and preventing conditions which often lead to this problem. Opting for a blade which is not sharp enough will increase the surface area in contact with the wood.
This is obviously going to increase the chances of kickback. If you keep your blade sharp at all times, chances of the jagged edge coming in contact with the wood after it has been cut will be very low.

Secondly, by placing the blade very low, you are only increasing the chances of this complication. If you increase the height of the blade that is to say if you make sure that a significant portion of the blade is above the surface of the table saw, you will automatically reduce chance of kickbacks.
If you combine these measures and options with various safety tools and devices available in the market, you will really bring down the chances of kickback down to zero.
As far as safety options are concerned, there are specific tools available. One option is the safety guard for the blade which is fitted on top of the blade. The movement of the blade is unaffected but makes sure that the wood does not come in contact with the metal surface after the same has been cut.
You can also go in for sharp metal objects that are fitted to the rear of the blade. The purpose of this metal object is to separate the wood after it has been cut. The angle of deviation will be very low and will not affect the overall precession of the cut.
Yet, once the wood passes this stage, it cannot come in contact with the other side again. You can also go in for accessories that not just separate the wood which has been cut but also prevents it from turning back.
Using accessories and safety tools is advisable because you may be using tall and long boards and may not be in proximity with the safety switch. In such a scenario, you may end up so far from the table saw that you are not in a position to stop the blade after the kickback occurs. Hence, you should focus on your technique, the features of the table saw and the safety accessories together to reduce chances of accidents.
